Three nearly identical Federal style rowhouses near the corner of West 4th Street and Jones Street in Manhattan. The far left and center rowhouses have pitched roofs while the far right rowhouse has a flat roof. Most probably the flat roof was a subsequent alteration. Removal of a pitched roof to make way for a full third floor was a common later alteration.

Top left: A frame row house with a pine clapboard exterior that was constructed during the 1840's. The recent paint applied to the finish of this row house was Eurolux, imported from Holland by Fine Paints of Europe. At $120 a gallon the stuff isn't cheap!
